At S.C. CIA ABOLIV SRL, we are committed to reducing food waste and actively contributing to environmental protection. In line with current legislation, our goal is to decrease the amount of food waste generated through concrete and efficient actions.
Our activity takes place in Mihai Viteazu, Cluj County, and is coordinated by our designated food waste management responsible.
How we reduce food waste
To achieve our goals, we implement a range of modern and responsible measures:
Food waste neutralization
We ensure safe and responsible handling of waste generated during production. For example, bones resulting from meat processing are incinerated, eliminating biological risks and reducing environmental impact.
Technology and process optimization
We continuously invest in technology to prevent losses and improve efficiency:
- Real-time temperature monitoring across all stages (production, packaging, storage, and delivery)
- Automated portioning and dosing systems for precise weight control
- Energy efficiency improvements, including transitioning to more sustainable cooling solutions (CO₂-based systems)
- Advanced processing technologies, including smart cooking cells and metal detection systems
Employee awareness and training
Reducing waste starts with people:
- Regular staff training on best practices
- Focus on accuracy in order handling to minimize errors
- Compliance with international standards such as ISO 22000:2018 and IFS Food v8
Donation and responsible redistribution
Products nearing their expiration date, but still safe for consumption, are not wasted:
- Donated to NGOs such as the Regional Food Bank Cluj
- Sold at discounted prices in our own stores
